Ever since watching Daft Punks music video for Da Funk way back in 1996, I have always wanted to either be or maybe just befriend Spike Jonze. The way he is able to merge music and film thoroughly excites me and many a time I have tenaciously hunted a song or soundtrack because I have heard it in a Spike Jonze movie, commercial or a music video he has directed.

I’m no die hard Kayne West fan but after watching the short film ‘We Were Once A Fairy Tale’ (if you have not seen it, it’s an absolute must!) which was directed by Jonze last year, inspired by Kayne and his inner demon, I had to have a copy of ’808s & Heartbreak’. So imagine my exhilaration whilst exploring the worldwide web and finding the ‘Being John Malkovich’ director has made yet another short film, which can be viewed in the comfort of your own home in just one click of a button and comes to you in good old fashion cinema style.
The short film titled I’M HERE, which was funded by Absolut (the vodka people);, takes us through a journey of love between 2 robots. The story is delivered in true Spike Jonze manner, he forces his audience to suspend their disbelief by throwing them into a fantasy world that is overly realistic. The film is definitely a tear jerker and as always if the film doesn’t capture you the soundtrack definitely will. Also in typical Jonze style, he manages to subtly introduce a number of newcomers to the music industry throughout the film, the biggest introduction being a band called Lost in the Trees. The film stars newcomers to the silver screen Andrew Garfield and Sienna Guillory, two bright sparks that we should be looking out for on a number of red carpets.
