At the end of a long, fashion-filled day J. Maskrey’s collection was met with a wave of trepidation amongst the over-tired journalists in the sweaty basement of Victoria House. The collection, like its designer was incredibly dramatic, taking obvious inspiration from the elegant, controlled demeanour of Geisha’s.
J Maskrey’s experience as a make-up artist had obviously helped inspire the collection, with the abundance of body jewellery used to create an almost circus-like performance atmosphere to the collection. The clothes themselves were very revealing, and used an almost all black palette, with the odd exception of a sparkle of metallic. Credit is due to J Maskrey’s awareness and dedication of showmanship, but there was a slight overall feeling that the clothes were screaming out in a sea of glitter.
