Ann-Sofie Back has been gently bubbling under the surface of fashion for some time now. Her graduation from small-scale design to mass market came with recently designing a capsule collection for Topshop. So no surprise that Ann-Sofie Back’s laid-back wares are displayed as part of the Topshop Newgen initiative at London Fashion Week. Her show, held in an industrial looking basement in Covent Garden was particularly fitting to its surroundings.

True to her style, the clothes are almost subdued – but in a cool way. Simple garments, with the Ann-Sofie Back twist were in abundance, with cut-a-away detail being her method du jour. Its fair to say that her work is inspired by the 90’s (like many other designers showing at London Fashion Week), with overt navel exposing crop-tops (on incredibly emaciated looking models, might I add), making a big comeback in this collection.
